ASTRONAUT

You were going to be an astronaut
Achieving anything you wanted
Here I am missing you already
Especially along the aisles of asda

I catch myself everywhere. Whether
In the eyes of pregnant women
Or through the quiet tears of

Your beautiful mum. Heartbroken.

Your little heartbeat had ceased
I then had to wander the corridors
Of someone elses joy, stunned
A week away from sharing you

With the world. You will be to us
Forever cherished and missed
My heart will always miss a beat
Every hour in honour of you

I wrote this after our third failed pregnancy in 13 months. If you look closely you can see the scan picture in the photograph. Always look for silver linings.

I turned to writing for therapy after a long period of ill-health. I have just returned to work. I am a researcher, writer, and Mental Health Advocate.
